Obituary

WORCESTER_____Helen A. (Grosh) O’Connor, 94, formerly of Worcester passed away on Saturday August 20, 2022 in Knollwood Nursing Center, West Boylston. Her husband of 55 years, James L. O’Connor, Sr., died in 2013.

Helen leaves a daughter, Susan M. Martins and her husband, Steven of Holmes Beach, Fl., a son, James L. O’Connor, Jr., and his wife Ann of Princeton, Massachusetts and their children, Helen’s grandchildren, Kerrin O’Connor of Rahway, New Jersey and Thomas O’Connor of Princeton. Helen also leaves six nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two sisters, Estelle Branniff and Ruth Stack. Helen was born and raised in Worcester a daughter of the late Joseph and Nellie (Krukoniute) Grisius. Helen and her husband enjoyed spending many summers at their home in Falmouth.

Mrs. O’Connor was a bookkeeper many years for the City of Worcester retiring many years ago. She also worked for the Melville Shoe Corporation and at the Jordan Marsh Store in the original Worcester Center Galleria. Helen was a member of St. Stephen’s Church. Helen enjoyed arts and crafts, reading, gardening, cooking family meals, and sewing.

The funeral will be held on Tuesday, August 30, 2022 with a Mass at 10:00 A.M. in St. Stephen’s Church, 357 Grafton St. Burial will follow in St. Philip’s Cemetery, Grafton, There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 309 Waverly Oaks Rd, Waltham, Ma., 02452 or to a charity of the donor’s Choice. Dirsa – Morin Funeral Home, 298 Grafton Street is directing funeral arrangements.
