N. “Butch” A. Padeni, 81, of Auburn died Friday, August 12th in the Life Care Center of Auburn surrounded by his loving family. He leaves his wife of 58 years, Elaine (Fitzgerald) Padeni; two sons, James Padeni and his wife, Laurie of Leicester, and Jeffrey Padeni and his wife, Mary of Dudley; three grandsons, Tim, Shane and Kyle all of Leicester; two brothers, Joseph Padeni, Jr. and his wife, Barbara of Grafton, and Roger Padeni and his wife, Deb of Charlton; a sister-in-law, Shirly Hanson of Auburn; a brother-in-law, Robert Fitzgerald of Gardner; and many nieces, nephews, and grand and great nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his best work and beer buddies including his brother-in-law, Dave Fitzgerald; and also, by his brother, Arthur Padeni; and sister, Joan Carlson.
He was born in Gardner the son of Joseph Padeni, Sr. and Jean (Dumonte) Padeni. Butch owned and operated Quality Automatic Transmission Services for over 25 years. He was proud of all the cars and trucks he had and fixing them up to look pristine. Butch loved boating at Lake Winnipesaukee, the casino and singing. He was proud of his sons and their wives and was always interested in what his grandsons were doing. Butch enjoyed joking around with his grandsons. He loved and enjoyed his home in Worcester for 41 years before moving to Auburn 5 years ago.
