Fall River – Thomas Alton Wood, 81, of Main Road, Tiverton, RI died Monday, May 15, 2006 at St. Anne’s Hospital. He was the husband of Mabel E. (Reid) Wood.
Born in Swansea, son of the late Thomas L. and Irene (Gray) Wood, he was a lifelong resident of Tiverton. A graduate of B.M.C. Durfee High School, Fall River, he served his country during WWII in the 447th Bomb Squadron of the United States Army/Air Force. Mr. Wood was a boat builder/carpenter for the carpenters local union of Providence, RI. He was a member of the V.F.W. Post 5392 of Tiverton, RI.
Including his wife, he is survived by 7 sons: Thomas A. Wood, Jr. of Tiverton, Donald A. Wood of Tiverton, Dana R. Wood of Little Compton, David R. Wood of Little Compton, Michael T. Wood of Boston, Robert B. Wood of Tiverton, RI and Peter B. Wood of Tiverton; 2 daughters: Kathleen M. Hathaway of Tiverton and Barbara I. Hastie of Fall River; 19 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral to which relatives and friends are invited will be Friday, May 19, 2006 at the Potter Funeral Home, 81 Reed Rd., Westport at 11:00 A.M.
Calling hours Thursday 5 – 8 P.M.
Interment will be in Hillside Cemetery, Tiverton, RI.
