Obituary

Beverly: George H. Levesque, age 76 of Beverly, died Monday at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers. He was the devoted husband of Jeanne C. (Laporte) Levesque with whom he shared 54 years of marriage.
Born and raised in Salem, he was the son of the late Francois and Roseanne (Morneau) Levesque. Following his graduation from St. Joseph Academy in Salem he enlisted in the Army and served with a financial unit in Austria during the Korean Conflict. He returned to Salem and became department manager for the boy’s department for Empire Clothing in Salem. He later became the manager and was the buyer for the men’s department. At the time of his retirement in 1993, he was store manager for the Liberty Tree Mall store. Following his retirement, for the next 5 years, he worked at the Salem Post Office. He was a former member of the Holy Name Society of the former St. Joseph Parish in Salem. George and his wife were residents of Peabody for 37 years and members of St. Thomas the Apostle Church. The couple moved to Beverly 5 years ago and became members of St. Mary of the Annunciation Parish in Danvers.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by 4 daughters: Therese A. Baxter and her husband Philip H. of Danvers, Denise M. and her husband Richard Ventresca of New Port Richey, FL, Celeste Broderick and her husband Stephen of Wadmalaw Island, SC, Janice M. Morrissey and her husband David of Farmington, CT, a son: Robert G. Levesque and his wife Joanne of Salisbury, 2 brothers: Roland Levesque of Beverly and Donald Levesque of Niceville, FL, and a sister: Margaret Ellis of Danvers.
He is also survived by 11 grandchildren: Timothy & Kevin Baxter, Michelle Weinhauer, Nicole & Marie Ventresca, Karen Prata, Heather, Marissa & Kristen Levesque, Carl & Eric Morrissey, 3 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother Leo Levesque.
Relatives and friends are invited to his funeral on Friday, May 19, 2006 at 8:45 am from the Levesque Funeral Home, 163 Lafayette St., Salem [Rt. 114 / 1-A] followed by his funeral mass in St. Thomas the Apostle Church, on the Salem / Peabody line at 10 am. Visiting hours: Thursday 4 to 8 pm. Burial will be private.
