Obituary

Mark Henry “Miz” Verdejo, 46, of New Bedford passed away suddenly on Thursday July 21, 2022 while visiting family in Puerto Rico. He was the husband of Naomi (Cardona) Verdejo.

Born in the Bronx, New York, the son of the late Henry Verdejo Marrero and Altagracia Caban, he lived in New Bedford for most of his life. He was a graduate of Greater New Bedford Regional Vocational-Technical High School and attended Bristol Community College.

Mark was employed as an Outreach Case Worker for the New Bedford Shannon Program.

Miz had a personality that was one-of-a-kind. He was fashion-savvy and always made an impression. He was well-known as a jokester and for his sense of humor. He loved listening to music, boxing, going to the gym, and watching reality TV. A most humble man, he was extremely giving but never expected anything in return. His most admirable trait, however, was his devotion to his family.

He is survived by his wife, Naomi; his children, Mark Verdejo, Jr., India Verdejo, Danez Spinner, and JoEllen Velez; his siblings, Henry “Ricky” Verdejo, Milton Verdejo, Arthur Verdejo, Herika Urena, and Letticia Caban; his grandchildren, Joziyah, Jia, Danez, Dyani, Devyn, and Giselle; his nephews who were like his sons, nieces, aunts, uncles, and cousins; as well as many good friends, including many who he considered as brothers.

His Funeral Service will be held on Thursday August 11th at 11 AM at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford. Visiting hours will be on Wednesday August 10th from 4-8 PM.
