Frederick A. "Fred” McCarthy, 63, died Sunday at his home, after a period of failing health. He was the husband of Margaret “Peggy” (Turnbull) (Paquette) McCarthy.
Born in Boston, son of the late John and Edith (Cameron) McCarthy.
He grew up in South Boston and attended schools there.
Before retirement, Fred was an electrician in Boston and belonged to the Local 103 IBEW. He also worked as a maintenance supervisor at Rockland Place in Rockland
He was an avid sports fanatic, loved to putter on odd jobs around the house, paint, and play cards. He also enjoyed following the drum corps.
He is also the father of; Dawn M. Locke and her husband Roland of Middleboro, David M. McCarthy of Brockton ;step father of Michelle Dunn and her husband John of Hanson, Michael W. Paquette of Weymouth and William Paquette of Whitman; brother of James McCarthy of East Weymouth, Thomas and John McCarthy both of South Boston and Timothy McCarthy of Webster; also the love our his life his 8 grandchildren, David, Lauren, Cory, Chase, Evan, Kathryn, Lauren; and many nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Edith Cameron.
His funeral will be held Thursday May 18th, at 9:15 A.M. from the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Route 58 at the Rotary Circle) Whitman, .followed by a funeral mass at 10:00 A.M. in the Holy Ghost Church School St, Whitman. Visiting hours Wednesday May 17th, 4:00-8:00 P.M .Burial will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in West Roxbury, MA. Donations may be made in his name to the South Shore Visiting Nurse, 155 Webster Street, Hanover, MA. 02339.
