Mr. Normand W. Purdy, a longtime resident of Medford and beloved husband of the late Dorothy E. (Gunby) Purdy, passed away at the Melrose-Wakefield Hospital on Thursday afternoon, August 4, 2022. He was 86 years old.
Born in Boston, Massachusetts, on November 9, 1935, he was the beloved son of the late Leslie G. and Adella (Gedrevitcz) Purdy. Mr. Purdy was a retired technician from Western Electric. In his spare time, he enjoyed rooting for the Patriots, jogging and playing hockey into his 50’s. He also loved watching movies, especially horror movies. He loved his family “Supper Club” and enjoyed fishing and gardening. He will be dearly missed.
He is survived by his loving children; Brad M. and his wife Yvonne Purdy of Holden, Maine, Jennifer L. Purdy and her husband Thomas J. P. O’Malley of Gloucester and Douglas G. Purdy of Medford, grandchildren; Kyra Purdy and Colette O’Malley. He was also the brother of the late Roy, Joan and Leslie.
Visiting hours will be held in the Beals-Geake-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 29 Governors Avenue, Medford on Tuesday, August 9, 2022, from 4-7 PM. Interment will be privately held at a later date.
