Obituary

DUDLEY – Jozef Pater, 78, died Saturday, July 23, 2022 in Harrington Memorial Hospital, Southbridge.

He leaves his wife of 52 years, Alicja (Bezak) Pater; 4 children, Artur Pater and his wife Marta of Poland, Dariusz Pater and his wife Urszula of Dudley, Renata Lech and her husband Krzysztof, and Grzegorz Pater and his wife Justyna, all of Millbury; 8 grandchildren, Anita Kusiak and her husband Grzegorz, Paulina Mazur and her husband Konrad, and Aneta Pater, all of Poland, Tomasz and Adrian Pater, and Krzysztof Surman of Dudley, and Julia and Jakub Lech of Millbury; a brother, Wladyslaw Pater and his wife Jadwiga of Chicago; 2 sisters, Kazimiera Czaja, and Janina Zuchowicz and her husband Ryszard, all of Poland; a sister-in-law, Danuta Pater of Holyoke; and many nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his brother Roman Pater.

He was born on May 15, 1944 in Radwan, Poland, the middle child of Wladyslaw and Karolina (Dziegiel) Pater and came to this area in 1993.

Mr. Pater worked on the family farm in Poland and then was a carpenter at Lelanite Corporation in Webster for 21 years, retiring in 2014.

He was a dedicated member of Saint Joseph Basilica in Webster. A hardworking and deeply religious man, he was a dedicated husband and father and especially loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was also proud of his garden.

His funeral will be held on Friday, July 29, from the Sitkowski, Malboeuf & Hickey Funeral Home, 340 School Street, Webster, with a Mass at 10:00 AM in Saint Joseph Basilica, 53 Whitcomb Street, Webster. Burial will be in Saint Joseph Garden of Peace. Visitation will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 PM on Thursday, July 28, in the funeral home.
