Obituary

Sheila Ann McLaughlin O'Neil, a 16 year resident of Malden and formerly of Charlestown, entered into eternal life suddenly on Saturday, July 23, 2022 at Lahey Clinic in Burlington. She was 59 years of age.

Sheila was born in Boston on March 25, 1963, a daughter of Theresa (Coleman) McLaughlin and the late Thomas P. McLaughlin. She grew up in Charlestown where she was educated at St. Mary's Parochial School and graduated from St. Rose High School in Chelsea in 1981. Sheila furthered her education and received her Associates Degree from Bunker Hill Community College. Sheila worked for over 30 years as an Office Manager for Teamsters Union Local # 25 in Charlestown. In her spare time, she enjoyed reading, taking walks especially along the beach, vacationing with family and visiting Foxwoods and Las Vegas.

Family was paramount in Sheila's life and while bringing up her precious Michelle, she met her life partner Kevin over 31 years ago and along with Michelle they shared very special moments together. Then only 10 years ago, the light of her life Colin was born and from that day a special bond was made between Nana and Grandson. Sheila enjoyed Colin everyday of her life since he was born, and she took such great pride while watching him grow up and his accomplishments in sports especially the opportunity he was given to play goalie for his hockey team.

Sheila is the loving lifelong partner and wife of 31 years to Kevin T. O'Neil. She is the devoted and dedicated mother to Michelle Punch and her husband John. She is the loving Nana to the light of her life Colin. She is the beloved daughter of Theresa (Coleman) McLaughlin and the late Thomas P. McLaughlin. She is the beloved sister of Patrick McLaughlin and his wife Tricia, Mary Donovan and her husband Kevin, Terry Haines and her husband Jim, Thomas P. McLaughlin Jr. and the late Sharon K. McLaughlin-Utterwijk and her surviving husband Michael. Beloved sister-in-law of Michael O'Neil and Colleen O'Neil. She is also survived by her cherished loving nieces, nephews, cousins and especially her loving lifelong friends whom she held a special place in her heart.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Sheila's Funeral from The Carr Funeral Home, 220 Bunker Hill St. Charlestown on Thursday, July 28, 2022 at 10 A.M. followed by her Funeral Mass in St. Mary's Church, 55 Warren St. Charlestown at 11 A.M. Her burial will be private. Her visiting hours will be on Wednesday, July 27, 2022 from 3 to 7 P.M. in the funeral home.
