Porter - Chester H. Chapman, 83, of Porter died on July 19, 2022 at his home after a long battle with lung disease. His soul has left this world to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He was born in Wolfeboro, NH. on April 24, 1939, a son of Oliver and Doris (Weeks) Chapman. He was educated in Porter and Connecticut schools and graduated high school from Norwich Trade School in Connecticut.
He worked at Whiton Machine Co. in New London, CT. for a few years, then at General Dynamics, Electric Boat Div. in Groton, CT. for a few more years. He owned and operated Kezar Falls Machine Co. for several years, and worked at Fairchild Semiconductor in South Portland for several years. He then went on to work at Vulcan Electric in Kezar Falls for many years. He has worked until very recently at a machine shop on his property in Porter known as General Fittings Heat Transfer Products.
Chet enjoyed antique cars and tractors, and liked watching NASCAR racing in his spare time. He was a member and deacon at the Kezar Falls Assembly of God. He was Selectman for the Town of Porter for 22 years, and was a 55 year member of the Greenleaf Masonic Lodge # 117 in Cornish. He will be sadly missed by all who loved him.
He is predeceased by a sister, Lois Chapman Day, and a brother-n-law, Charles Day. Surviving are his wife of 63 years, Carolyn (Watrous) Chapman. Six children: Debra Gibbs and husband Barney of California, Susan Chapman Day of California, Sandra Chapman Gibbs and husband Kevin of California, Bonnie Larkins and husband Ray of California, Dennis Clark and wife Tina of Oklahoma, and Clinton Chapman and wife Jess of New Gloucester. Also numerous loving grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be on Wednesday, July 27, at 2 p.m. at the Kezar Falls Assembly of God, 213 Federal Road, Parsonsfield, ME. 04047. Arrangements are respectfully handled by Poitras, Neal and York Funeral Home. Online condolences may be expressed at: www.mainefuneral.com
