Dorothy (Dot) Small Murray, 94, of Colchester died Wednesday, July 20, 2022 at Harrington Court Complete Care in Colchester. She was born on February 2, 1928 in Norridgewock, Maine, the daughter of Glendon and M. Ethel (Weatherbee) Small. At nine months old, her family moved to North Yarmouth, Maine where she grew up. She attended a one room schoolhouse and graduated from Greely Institute in Cumberland, ME in 1945.
Dorothy married Frank R. Murray on July 3, 1948. They moved to Connecticut in 1952 to raise their family of 5 children. She worked for 30 years at Douglas Randall Electronics in Pawcatuck, retiring in 1993 as a supervisor. After retirement, she moved to Lisbon where she was active in the Newent Congregational Church and the Lisbon Senior Center. Dorothy loved to care and babysit for children, especially Kyra and McKenzie.
Dorothy is survived by her children. Jerry (T), Joe (Marge), Judy (Bob), John (Barbara) and Jim, 15 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and over 20 nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, she is predeceased by her brother, Smally and her two sisters, Catherine and Ethel, and three grandchildren, Tracy, Leanne and Jason.
Dorothy's family will greet relatives and friends on Saturday, July 30 from 11:00am to 12 Noon followed by a funeral service at 12 Noon at the Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl Street, Mystic.
