Shrewsbury

Anne M. “Annie” (Hartnett) Simon, 66, of Shrewsbury died Saturday in Brigham and Womens Hospital surrounded by family and friends.

She leaves her husband of 45 years, Chick H. Simon; three children, Kevin and his wife Tara Simon of Shrewsbury, Beth Simon of Shrewsbury and John and his wife Heather Renihan Simon, of Annapolis, MD. She also leaves her father, John J. Hartnett of Worcester; three sisters, Shelia and her husband Bob Johnson of Worcester; Kathy Hartnett of Dorchester and Mary Whittles of Worcester; two grandsons, Patrick and Christopher Simon both of Shrewsbury; and many nieces and nephews as well as great nieces and nephews. A sister, Joan M. Perkins, predeceased her. She was born in Worcester, daughter of Mary T. (O’Malley) Hartnett. She graduated early from North High School and by the age of 22 had traveled the world as a flight attendant with Pan American. She later graduated from Salter Secretarial School and attended the New England School of Art and Design and the Rhode Island School of Design.

Annie owned and operated Interiors by Anne in Shrewsbury for 25 years.

She was a member of the Worcester Dinettes and past president of the New England IFDA. Anne was an avid golfer and tennis player. She loved traveling to Aruba and York Beach with her husband and friends. She also loved being with her grandsons whom she adored. Annie was known for planning and organizing many events with her special flair. She touched many people throughout the years, generously supporting and giving to important charities like the 3 day Breast Cancer Walk and the Angel Tree. She was an extraordinary wife, mother, sister, grandmother, aunt and friend and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

The funeral will be held Wednesday, May 17, from Callahan & Fay Brothers Funeral Home, 61 Myrtle St. Worcester with a Mass at 10am in St. Mary’s Church, 640 Main St. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery. Visiting hours are Tuesday, May 16, from 4 to 8pm at the funeral home.
