Geraldine P. (Guiggio) Ferlito, lifelong resident of Medford, passed away on Sunday, July 17th. She was 78. Born in Boston, she was the cherished daughter of the late Gerardo and Marianne (Venezia) Guiggio.
For over forty years Geraldine served as the Assistant Treasurer for the City of Medford. She loved to shop and most would consider her a shopaholic. Geraldine enjoyed watching QVC and the Home Shopping Club networks to find the best bargains. She was a generous woman and thought of others often, giving away a majority of her purchases.
A quick witted woman with a sharp sense of humor, Geraldine was known to tell you how things were, often without a filter. She looked forward spending to summers in York Beach with her family. When Geraldine was not giving you a run for your money or searching for the next best bargain, she was spending every moment with her grandchildren. Being a Nana was her passion.
Geraldine was the beloved wife of Joseph C. Ferlito. She was the devoted mother of Joseph C. Ferlito and his fiancée Luisa Badolato, and Lea M. Ferlito. She was the loving Nana of Taylor, Christopher and Nicholas Ferlito.
Her funeral will be from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, Friday, July 22nd at 9 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Joseph Church, 118 High St., Medford, at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Thursday 4 – 8 PM. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Geraldine’s name to the American Cancer Society, 3 Speen St., Suite 250, Framingham, MA 01701.
