We are heartbroken to announce the death of our Mother, Flora Anne McLaughlin on July 16th 2022, age 80, of Medford, MA. She died peacefully at home with her family by her side.
Flora was born in Port Hood, Nova Scotia Canada on November 30, 1941 to Annabelle and Dan Lewis Macdonald. She is survived by her two children, Anne McLaughlin of Belmont, MA and Alison (Charlie) Raposo of Baldwinville, MA, two grandsons Drake and Myles, siblings Margaret Holder, Lewis Macdonald, Morag Graham, Donald Andrew Macdonald and Graeme Macdonald. She was predeceased by her husband William McLaughlin, her parents and siblings Ranald and Allan Macdonald.
Flora was the kindest and gentlest soul we have ever known and lived a life of service. She spent most of her life in Medford, MA. She spent many years in the healthcare profession where her compassion and considerable love for her patients were well known. Flora loved to travel, have a good time, a good laugh and enjoyed many happy times at the Canadian American Club in Watertown where she made lifelong friends. Flora was the oldest of 8 children and loved her siblings, her nieces and nephews and never missed a wedding or special event. Her annual trips to Cape Breton are cherished memories. Most of all she loved her two daughters and showed us by example how to be a good mother. She doted on her two grandsons Drake and Myles and was always there for them. She was a great help and we don't know how we would have done it without her. Mom...we love you...we will miss you....and in your own words; "Till We Meet Again".
In lieu of flowers, Flora's wishes were that a donation be made to the Canadian American Club, 202 Arlington St, Watertown, MA 02472. The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to Compassus Hospice for their excellent care, compassion and kindness. A prayer service will be held on Thursday, July 21, 2022 11am at the Bigelow Chapel at Mount Auburn Cemetery located at 580 Mount Auburn Street, Cambridge MA. Reception to follow.
