Ryan Jeffrey Larsen, 19, beloved son of Shawn Z. and Jeffrey R. Larsen of
Needham died in an automobile accident on Tuesday night, May 9, near the
Marlboro College campus in Vermont where he had just successfully finished his freshman year.
His studies focused on writing and eastern religion and spirituality. He
was very proud of his many achievements in his freshman year, including
passing his rigorous writing requirement on the first try and getting an A
in quantum physics which he took as an elective. He felt a perfect fit at
Marlboro, and each of his professors spoke enthusiastically about his
energy, vision and unique insights. Ryan always loved a wide range of
music, playing the guitar and sharing time with his many friends. He enjoyed the natural woods setting surrounding the college taking frequent meditative walks and snowboarding with enthusiasm.
Ryan was bright, artistic, passionate and affectionate, and his smile and
big brown eyes would light up a room. He was a good and loyal friend and a
deeply loving and devoted son to his parents and brother to Connor. He will
always be a joy in the lives of those who adored him.
Ryan loved and will be missed by everyone who loved him and whose life he touched, including his parents, Shawn Z. and Jeffrey R. Larsen and his
brother Connor J. Larsen of Needham, MA, and his grandparents Elizabeth and Robert Larsen of Needham and Mary and Donald Zehnder of Naugatuck CT. Ryan also loved and will be missed by his aunts and uncles, Gail Z. and Daniel Laterza of Salem, MA, Donald Zehnder, Jr., Denise J. and Terry Zehnder and their son Kenneth all of Naugatuck CT, and Steven B. Larsen and Gail Robinson of Bethesda MD and their sons Aidan and Colin.
A memorial service to honor Ryan's life will be held at the Trinity Chapel at BC Law School, 885 Centre St, Newton MA on Tuesday, May 16 at 6:30 p.m. Ryan's family respectfully requests that contributions may be made in his honor to Marlboro College, 2582 South Road, Marlboro VT 05344 instead of flowers.
