Obituary

Bridgewater - Louis R. Calabrese, 94, of Bridgewater, formerly of Brockton, died Monday, May 8, 2006, at Brockton Hospital after a long illness. He was the husband of the late Annie (Zenavich) Calabrese.

Born Nov. 29, 1911, in East Weymouth, he was the son of the late Dominic and Prudence (Cisco) Calabrese.

Mr. Calabrese grew up in Brockton and attended Brockton schools and had been a Bridgewater resident for 68 years.

He played for the Brockton Town Football Team and also played amateur baseball.

Mr. Calabrese was a custodian for the Bridgewater public schools for 30 years, retiring in 1981.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving in Europe.

Mr. Calabrese was a member of St. John Church in East Bridgewater.

He enjoyed golf, mushrooming and gardening.

He was the father of Raymond L. & his wife Barbara of Wichita, Kan., and Edward J. & his wife Mary of Amherst; brother of Nancy Delpozzo of Brockton, Antonette Luizzi of Mansfield, Carmela Fiumara of Bridgewater and Carl Calabrese of Abington. Also survived by 7 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

His Funeral will be from the Prophett Funeral Home, 98 Bedford St. (Rte. 18), Bridgewater on Monday at 8:15 am, followed by a Funeral Mass In St. Thomas Aquinas church Bridgewater at 9:00 am. Visiting hours are Sunday from 4-7 pm. Burial will be in St. Thomas Aquinas Cemetery, Bridgewater.
