TEWKSBURY: David Michael Penney, age 58, a resident of Tewksbury for over 20 years, formerly of Wakefield, passed away from injuries sustained in an accident in North Hampton, New Hampshire on Saturday, June 25, 2022.

He was the loving husband of Celeste J. (Plante) Penney and father of 17-year-old David Penney Jr.

Born in Boston on August 14, 1963, he was the son of George W. Penney, Jr., of Orange Park, FL and the late Jeanne (Wallace) Penney.

David was raised in Wakefield, attended Wakefield schools and graduated from Wakefield High School in 1981. Following graduation, he attended U.Mass- Amherst and the University of Lowell (U.Mass-Lowell).

David spent 11 years mentoring his son and many other scouts with Boy Scout Troop # 49 of Tewksbury as leader and Scoutmaster. He went through many of the Scout Leader training programs and was passionate about giving scouts a chance to learn outdoor and life skills as well as experience camping. He was a member and president of Tewksbury-Wilmington Sons of Italy, and of the Tewksbury-Wilmington Elks Post # 2070,

He also enjoyed riding his Harley, spending time at Sunrise Lake in Middleton, NH and listening to the Beatles. David enjoyed bringing his son to car shows, races and to talk about anything with wheels. When he joined a new organization or group he jumped in with both feet and committed fully.

In addition to his wife and father, he is survived by his son, David M. Penney, Jr., of Tewksbury; his sister, Jamie D. Penney, of North Reading; many extended family members and friends.

Family and friends will be received Friday, July 1, from 4-8 p.m. at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee Street, Tewksbury.
A memorial service celebrating his life will be held on Saturday, July 2nd, at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church, 1500 Andover Street, Route 133, Tewksbury. Those planning to attend are asked to meet at the church. At the request of his family, in lieu of flowers donations in his memory may be made to the Key Foundation at www.keyfoundation.org/donate
