John Francis Carroll, age 79, former owner of Carroll's Restaurant, Medford Memory Lane in Somerville, and the Front Page in Charlestown, died peacefully on Friday August 2, 2002 at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.
He was born in Boston on August 31, 1922 a son of the late Maurice W. and Gertrude (Kenefick) Carroll. He married his beloved wife of 58 years, Claire M. Blinn on April 9, 1944.
He enlisted in the Army during World War II. He was a corporal serving with the 301st Infantry.
He is the loving father of Marianne C. and her husband Richard Galeazzi of North Andover and the late John F. Carroll, Jr. Cherished brother of the late Maurice W. Carroll, Jr. and Gertrude M. Hupfer. Also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Funeral from the Beals-Geake-Magliozzi Funeral Home, 29 Governors Avenue, Medford, Wednesday at 10 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated in St. Josephs Church, 118 High Street, Medford at 11 AM. Relatives and friends respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours, Tuesday from 4 to 8 PM Interment, Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody.
