Sally Ann Pugh, 83, of Derry, NH, left to make her way to heaven of Friday, June 24, 2022, at Parkland Medical Center of Derry, after a long battle with the devastating effects of Myelodysplasia Syndrome. Sally was born August 3, 1938, in Conway, NH and was a daughter of the late William H. and Louise E. (Douglass) McGrath. She moved with her family to Derry in the third grade and was a 1956 graduate of Pinkerton Academy.
Sally was a graduate of Elliot Hospital Radiology program and was the first X-Ray Technician at the Alexander Eastman Hospital in Derry. One afternoon, she spotted a young man leaning against a parking meter downtown, and thought to herself “I’m going to marry that guy”. On September 5, 1959, she did. Delbert and Sally Ann Pugh, were married for nearly 63 years, adoring each other as much as the day they met. On June 25, 1960, Susan Pugh came into the world as Sally and Delbert’s only daughter. She would grow up a very close companion to her mother as Delbert was completing his obligations to the Air National Guard, or working at the families service station on Crystal Avenue in Derry.
Sally loved to read, often devouring a book in a day. She was also a wonderful cook and was constantly prodded to enter her fantastic apple pie recipe into competition. She also cherished Saturday and Sunday rides to wherever Delbert wanted to drive, but was most happy in the White Mountains.
She is survived by her beloved husband of nearly 63 years, Delbert Pugh of Derry; one daughter, Susan Pugh of Derry, her brother, William McGrath of Hudson, NH and her sister Donna McFarland of Barnstead, NH, as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins, including a special nephew, Kenny Wentworth. Sally was also predeceased by her sister Elizabeth Dickason.
There are no services planned at this time. Following cremation, services will be held by the family at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the MDS Foundation, 4573 South Broad St., Suite 150, Yardville, NJ 08620 or at https://www.mds-foundation.org/
