Obituary

Gordon Miller was born at home to Wayne and Ruth (Worthington)
Miller on November 19, 1940 in Coeur d' Alene, Idaho. He entered into rest on April 16, 2022 in Prosser

Gordon spent his early years in Coeur d' Alene, Idaho. After his graduation from
high school in 1958, he attended North Idaho Community College followed by Eastern Washington University earning his BA in Education. He spent his summers working for the Forest Service fighting fires, spraying for diseases and cleaning and making trails. After completion of college, he taught his first year in Idaho before moving to the valley to teach in Granger and living in Sunnyside. Here he taught junior high science and math. Also continued his love of sports by coaching basketball.

In 1965, on a blind date, he met Glenda Tull. They married and resettled in Tillamook, Oregon where Gordon taught biology and coached swimming. After a few years , life brought the couple back to Prosser. Gordon continued teaching science and math at Housel Middle School until he decided to venture into farming. He entered into an agreement with his father-in-law Homer Tull
and began his wheat farming and cattle ranching journey. This is where his heart and life's work remained. One of his biggest joys was simply being outside, walking in the fields and being with the animals.

Over the years, his love of all sports had him following the Mustangs up and down the valley. He accepted the roll of KACA radio sports broadcaster for the Prosser football and basketball teams. He was the "Voice of the Mustangs" for
13 years.

Gordon was a member of many organizations in the community and the State. He was an elder in the Covenant Presbyterian Church. He was active in the Wheat Growers Association and the Cattlemen's Association. He was very involved in the Masonic Lodge where he was Past Master and Past District Deputy. He was also very active in the Order of the Eastern Star and served as a Past Worthy Patron and Past Grand Representative to the State of Indiana. He was also Past Grand Escort to Grand Ruth, Grand Escort to Grand Esther and Grand Escort to Representative to the State of Maryland.

After Gordon retired, he attended the International Tour Management Institute in San Francisco. For the next ten years he used his gift to "gab" and brought history to life by directing tours in and around the Washington DC area, the Southwest Region and the Northwest Yukon Territories in Canada. Another, personal favorite was directing tours to the Rose Bowl and getting to combine his passions of sports and travel. Gordon and Glenda also enjoyed many trips together traveling to Europe, Asia, Panama Canal, and Alaska.

Gordon loved to hunt and fish. Every year before harvest he would head to the mountains and find a cool stream. His prize mule "LeRoy" was always up for the challenge of a week-long packing trip into the Blue Mountains. Also elk season made another hunting trip possible. He always managed to get meat every year.

Gordon is preceded in death by his parents and siblings. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Glenda and two daughters, Carla (John) Blakney and Kelly (Sam) Pearson. His grandchildren include Eric, Scott, and Leah Blakney and Kate, Alex, Ellie, and Maggie Pearson.

Services will be held at the Covenant Presbyterian Church in Prosser on Friday, July 1 at 11:00 AM.
