Obituary

Jean H. (Clark) Price passed away after a brief illness at the St. Francis Rehabilitation & Nursing Home in Laconia, NH on Wednesday, June 22, 2022 at the age of 89. Jean was born in Derry, NH on March 19, 1933 and lived her entire life in Derry. She married Edward Price in 1956 and was married for 61 years until his passing in 2017. Jean graduated from Pinkerton Academy in 1952 where she lead her class as Vice President and was a familiar face across various clubs and organizations – the girls basketball team being where she shined most. With a strong love for the Academy, it wasn’t long until Jean found herself back at Pinkerton as a food service worker. She served staff members and students from 1970 to 2022 and was often remembered for calling out, “Put your money down!” as students passed through her checkout line. With over 50+ years of dedicated service to the school, Jean was a popular face across campus and always found a seat in the bleachers at most home games.

Jean treasured the decades she spent in the cafeteria and was elected to the Pinkerton Academy Hall of Fame in 1994 for her exceptional contributions and service. In 2005, the underclassmen cafeteria was named “The Price is Right Café” in Jean’s honor for her dedicated service and for her friendship to Pinkerton’s students. Most recently in 2018, Jean was named a Bradford V. Ek Honored Alumna by the Alumni Association of Pinkerton Academy.

Jean’s deepest loves were her family, friends and all things Pinkerton. Her laughter, smile and friendliness will be sorely missed by all and her legacy at the Academy will surely not be forgotten.

Jean was predeceased by her parents, Kenneth (Clarkie) and Helen Clark as well as her brother, Douglas Clark and her sister, Eileen (Sis) Ela.

She is survived by her two children, son, Steven Price of Exeter and daughter, Sandra (Price) Eaton and husband, Brian Eaton of Derry as well as four grandchildren, James Merrow and his wife René of Hooksett, Tiffany Eaton of Hooksett, Christopher and Jennifer Merrow of Maine. She is also survived by five great-grandchildren, Blake and Aisley Merrow of Hooksett and Kahleb, Devin and Jenna Merrow from Maine, as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

Following cremation, calling hours will be held on Tuesday, June 28th from 4:00pm – 7:00pm in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, June 29th at 10:30am in the funeral home. Mask usage will be at the discretion of the attendee. The burial will follow in the Forest Hill Cemetery in E. Derry. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Massachusetts/NH Affiliate, 309 Waverley Oaks Rd., Waltham, MA 02452.
