Obituary

SHREWSBURY: Joseph Roland Blais, 91, of Shrewsbury and formerly of North Grafton, passed away on Monday, June 20, 2022, surrounded by his family.

He is survived by two brothers, Albert A. Blais of Harpursville, NY., and Roger D. Blais of Shreveport, LA.,a niece, Maryann L. Tivnan and her husband Bill, nephews, Robert J. Blais, Jr. and his wife Lisa, Steven M. Blais and his wife Karen, Michael F. Blais and his wife Debra, and Paul A. Blais and his wife Laura,and many great nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Robert J. Blais, Sr. and his wife, Delores J. (Snyder) Blais and a sister, Laurette Blais.

Joseph was born in Mexico, Maine, son of the late, Joseph F.X. and Estelle A. (Beaudoin) Blais. He retired as a millwright from Wyman Gordon Company in 1992 and was a member of the United Steelworkers Union - Local 2285. Joseph was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War, serving as a Corporal. He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Worcester.

The family would like to thank the wonderful staff from Notre Dame Hospice and Shrewsbury Crossing Assisted Living for their compassionate care.

A Funeral will be held on Monday, June 27, 2022 from DIRSA - MORIN FUNERAL HOME, 298 Grafton Street, Worcester with a Funeral Mass at 11:30am in Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 1290 Grafton Street, Worcester. Burial will follow in Notre Dame Cemetery. A calling hour will be held from 10:00 to 11:00am in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to UMass Cancer Walk and Run, 333 South Street, Shrewsbury, MA 01545.
