Obituary

William “Milton” Rousey, 67, of Tifton passed away Monday, June 20, 2022, at Tift Regional Medical Center. His funeral service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Thursday, June 23, 2022, in the Sanctuary of Tifton’s First Baptist Church with the Rev. Steve Tucker and the Rev. Danny Moree officiating. A eulogy will be given by Bobby Bennett. Mr. Rousey will be laid to rest at Liberty Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. T. J. Mauldin officiating. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, June 22, 2022, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.

Eddie Bennett, Jason Womack, Shannon Luke, Tye Cottle, Jake Wells, Neal Roberson and Danny Sterling will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of the Faith Sunday School class at Liberty Baptist Church in Tifton and the employees of Plant Telecommunications.

Born February 26, 1955, in Tifton, Mr. Rousey was the son of the late Theo Milton Rousey and the late Lillie Horton Rousey. Before retiring, he was the construction supervisor for Plant Telecommunications for 37 years. He was a member of Liberty Baptist Church in Tifton, where he served as an usher and he was a member of the security detail. He was involved with the Archery Shooters Association for 29 years since its inception. He loved the outdoors and he was an avid hunter and fisherman.

Milton was a true southern gentleman and saw the good in people. He loved the Lord, he loved his family, he loved his community and he cared for his friends. He has left a legacy that no one can match. He had a lifelong impact on everyone he came in contact with.

Mr. Rousey is survived by his wife of 46 years, Diane Shannon Rousey of Tifton. He was the greatest man that every lived to his son and daughter-in-law, Will and Martine Rousey of Tifton and his daughter and son-in-law, Rachel and Ryan Futch of Tifton; three sisters, Vickey Rousey, Debra Rousey and Ann Rousey, all of Tifton; and he was a “great” Pops to his three grandchildren, Clay Futch, Madeline Pearce and Hayden Pearce.
