Sheila was born on August 11,1937 in Streamstown Westport, County Mayo to the late Patrick and Celia Gannon. Sheila was the second youngest of ten children. After arriving in Boston at the young age of twenty-two, she worked at Liberty Mutual Insurance. Within her first year of being in America, she met her soulmate, Paul. This was just the beginning of a true love story. Following a whirlwind courtship, they returned to Ireland and were married in 1965. Sheila was a lifetime resident of Malden with her husband Paul, where they raised their five children. She was deeply devoted to her family and faith. Sheila was most happy being a wife, mother, and “Nannie” to her nine grandchildren. She loved spending her time with family, friends and hosting large gatherings-especially her famous St. Paddy’s Day celebrations. Sheila also enjoyed being a proud hockey mom, the beach, gardening, reading and traveling. She was especially fond of her trip to Italy with her son to celebrate mass at the Vatican and see the Pope. Many memories were made relaxing “at the chalet” in Freedom, NH and at her home in Westport, County Mayo, Ireland. Relatives & friends are invited to attend her funeral from the Breslin Funeral Home, 610 Pleasant St., Malden on Friday June 24th at 9 AM followed by a Funeral Mass celebrated at Immaculate Conception Church, 600 Pleasant St., Malden at 10 AM.
