James Howard “Buddy” Cone, Jr., 62, of Tifton passed away Wednesday, June 15, 2022, at Tift Regional Medical Center. His funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, June 19, 2022, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. Steve Hand officiating. Mr. Cone will be laid to rest at Oak Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday, June 18, 2022, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Walt Clements, Leland Frazier, Ronald Norman, Wallace Turner, Johnny Pate and Jonathan Stevenson will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Tifton Harley Owners Group and the employees of Kelley Manufacturing Company in Tifton.
Born February 27, 1960, in Tifton, Mr. Cone was the son of Bobbie Cook Cone of Omega and the late James Howard Cone. He was employed at Kelley Manufacturing Company in Tifton and he was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church in Kelltown.
In addition to his mother, Mr. Cone is survived by one son, Adam Cone of Lenox; one daughter and son-in-law, Heather and Chad Bishop of Fitzgerald; the mother of his children, Tammie Cone of Tifton; two brothers and sisters-in-law, David and Connie Cone of Tifton and Jason and Robin Cone of Saint Mary’s; one sister, Lynn “Sissy” Cone of Omega; three grandchildren, C. J. Bishop, Caylin Bishop and Cole Bishop; one niece, Jennifer Cone Sumner and her husband Henry; three nephews, Dusty Cone, Zach Cone and Sam Cone; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
Flowers will be accepted or memorial gifts may be made to a favorite charity.
