Sandra Ross Barbee, 79, of Tifton passed away June 15, 2022, at her residence, surrounded by her loving family. Her funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 18, 2022, at Hickory Springs Primitive Baptist Church with Elder Walt DeLoach and Elder Buck Grantham officiating. Mrs. Barbee will be laid to rest at Hickory Springs Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday, June 17, 2022, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Bowen Donaldson Home for Funerals. Mrs. Barbee will be placed in the church one hour prior to the service.
Mrs. Barbee’s grandsons, Curt Owen, Matt Owen, Conner Cross, Bryce Cross, Brooks Cross, Drew Venable, Zach Barbee and Ty Barbee, as well as her nephews Dr. Wes Ross and Oren Ross will serve as pallbearers.
Born November 21, 1942, in Tifton, Mrs. Barbee was the daughter of the late James Oren Ross, Jr. and Marjorie Cottle Ross. Along with her parents, Mrs. Barbee was also preceded in death by her husband of fifty-three years, Curtis Barbee; one brother, James Oren (Bud) Ross, III; and her son-in-law, Tim Owen.
Mrs. Barbee was a life-long member of Hickory Springs Primitive Baptist Church. She loved sitting on the beach, her flowers, working in her yard, watching her birds, her church, and spending time with her family, especially her grandsons.
Mrs. Barbee is survived by three daughters and one son-in-law, Angela B. Owen of Tifton, Melanie B. Cross and husband Ray of Tifton, and Christie Venable of Dalton; one son and daughter-in-law, C. Brian Barbee and wife Stacey of Tifton; her grandsons, Curt Owen (Chelsie), Matt Owen, Conner Cross, Bryce Cross, Brooks Cross, Drew Venable, Zach Barbee (Savannah), Ty Barbee; one great grandson, Ryder Curtis Barbee; step grandsons, Jake Flynt (Loren) and Reed Flynt; her siblings, Jimmy Ross (Charlene), Larry Ross (Linda), Tim Ross (Lynn), Mike Ross (Chrystle), and Tammie Koran (Jon); sister-in-law, Vera Howell of Sylvester; two brothers-in-law, Frank Barbee (Carlene) of Sylvester and Roy Barbee (Sheila) of Leesburg; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews..
