UPDATE: Services will be held at the Ginley Funeral Home of Franklin (www.ginleyfuneralhomes.com) 131 Main Street, Franklin, MA on Wednesday, June 29 at 1:00p.m.with visitation from Noon- 1:00 p.m. Burial will take place at St. Michael’s Cemetery, Avon, MA at a later date.
Robert J. Gallivan (Bob), 87, of Orlando, FL, passed away on June 1, 2022, at Advent Health Hospital South in Orlando. He was a resident at Life Care Center of Orlando since January 2021 and a resident of Orlando for the past 30 years.
Bob was born in Weymouth, MA on July 23, 1934, oldest of four children of George J. Gallivan and Alice (Feely) Gallivan, and resided in Quincy, MA until moving to Orlando in 1992. He was a graduate of North Quincy High School and later attended Burdett College. He was employed in food sales and later by Brady Enterprises of Weymouth, MA. After relocation to Florida, he worked for an airport van service prior to retirement.
Bob is survived by a sister, Brenda Hutchinson of Franklin, MA and was predeceased by two younger brothers, George J. Gallivan (2001) and Thomas E. Gallivan (2018). Also survived by two sisters-in-law, Margaret Gallivan of Marco Island, FL and Emily Gallivan of Easthampton, MA, and nieces Christine Lorenz and Brent of Potomac, Maryland, Michelle Gallivan-Wallace and Brian of Reno, Nevada and Marianne McLaughlin and Zephyr of Seattle, Washington and nephews, James Hutchinson of Franklin, MA, David Hutchinson of Newton, MA, George Gallivan and Annemarie of Mansfield, MA and Daniel Gallivan and Lauren of Raynham, MA .
Bob was an avid sports fan of both college and professional sports, especially the Boston College Eagles and University of Florida Gators, as well as home-town pro teams; was an avid reader of fiction and non-fiction and keeping up with current events. He enjoyed music and socializing with friends and family and had a vivid memory for reciting numbers and statistics.
