Obituary

Noreen E. O’Day, 79, of Walpole, died June 13 in Brigham & Women’s Hospital in Boston.

Born in Norwood on December 21, 1942, the daughter of the late John and Olga (Berger) O’Day. She spent her childhood in East Walpole, graduating in 1960 from Walpole High School and later graduating from Fisher Junior College. Following graduation, she worked as a medical secretary and spent many years employed by Dr. Lawrence F. Geuss as his reliable office manager.

Noreen felt the most important things in life were faith, family, and friends, and she was always blessed to have them. She was spiritual and long active at St. Mary’s Church in East Walpole. It was there she established many lasting friendships. Noreen loved to travel, taking several trips to Europe and Hawaii. Many springs were highlighted by “May trips,” visiting state parks with her sisters and nieces. She enjoyed walking in Bird Park and was a faithful member of her “Bird School Buddies,” sharing regular meals and laughter with these childhood friends.

She is survived by her sisters, Joanne Cosgrove and her husband, Donald of Mansfield, and Carol Nanni of Rindge, New Hampshire. She was the sister of the late John O’Day and is survived by her sister-in-law, Dorothy Ammerman of Florida.

Noreen was a fun-loving and devoted aunt to her nieces and nephews, Diane Nanni, Donald (Anne) Cosgrove, John Nanni, Stephen (Deb) Cosgrove, Andrea (Jake) Neuschuez, Patricia (Michael) McPherson, Kendra (Scott) Fitzgerald, Rebecca (James) Porter and Priscilla Nanni (Frank Adolph).

She is also survived by many great-nieces, great-nephews, and cousins.
Her funeral mass will be held on Monday, June 20, in St. Mary’s Church East Walpole at 10:30 a.m.

Burial will be held privately in Highland Cemetery, Norwood, at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to St. Mary’s Church ( Memo note: Bell Restoration Fund), 176 Washington Street, East Walpole, MA 02032, or the charity of one’s choice.
