Our beloved, Alberto “Berting” Barcelona Uera passed away on June 13, 2022, at the age of 76 in Salem MA. His battle with serious medical problems in recent years showed his courage in facing life challenges with a smile. Despite the pain, Tatay Berting, as we call him, stayed strong until the end.
He met the love of his life, Yolanda at the age of 19. It was his uncle and grandfather who went their way to have approval of Nanay Yolanda’s parents to accept him for their daughter (the old fashion way of winning a lady’s heart). They were engaged for 1 year before they decided to settle down and been married for 54 years. Together, they used to hang out with their friends. He was a proud father to 5 children: Rosalie, Olibert, Ronald, Randy, and Alvin. Tatay Berting is known to be a loving and generous grandpa of Irah, Inah, Kate, RB, Angela, Gaven, Eunah, and Euan. Back home (Philippines) he usually spent time with them singing in the karaoke.
Tatay Berting and Nanay Yolanda migrated here in the United States in 2016 and stayed with their son Randy Uera. On spare time, they love going to Senior Center in Salem. He loved telling stories about his experiences during his younger years and love to tell jokes to his fellow seniors. He usually says he can’t dance but when it’s time for event performances, you will see him on the dance floor. We are going to miss your dance moves Tatay Berting.
In celebration of his life, a funeral service is scheduled from 11 AM - 1PM on Saturday, June 18, 2022 at the Casper Funeral Home located at 187 Dorchester Street in South Boston. Interment services will be private.
