Mary Jane (Cashman) Walsh, 83, of New Bedford, Massachusetts died Monday June 13, 2022 surrounded by her family.
She was born September 5, 1938 in New Bedford, the daughter of the late John F. and Irene F. Cashman. She was predeceased by her husband, Arthur.
Mary Jane graduated from Holy Family High School in 1956, and received a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Bridgewater State Teachers College in 1960. She spent her career as an elementary school teacher in the New Bedford Public Schools.
She is survived by her daughter, Maureen, her son and daughter-in-law, John and Maria, her grandchildren, Jack, Joe, Maggie, Seamus and Jimmy, her sisters, Kate Madigan and Maggie Purrington and her husband, Fred, and many loving nieces and nephews.
Her funeral will be held on Friday, June 17th at 10:30 AM from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park Street, New Bedford, followed by her Funeral Mass at St. Lawrence Church at 11:30 AM. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Thursday June 16th from 4-8 PM.
