East Machias - Sheila M. (Leslie) LaLonde Locke, 81, passed away on June 6, 2022 at her daughter's home in Cornish. She was born August 14, 1940 on the ferry in Passamaquoddy Bay between Deer Island, New Brunswick and Eastport, ME. Her parents were Raye and Mary (Doughty) Leslie.
She moved to Mass. in her late teens, married Norman LaLonde and had 4 children. She later divorced and remarried Charles Locke and had 2 more children. She moved to Baldwin, Maine in 1974. She had lots of odd jobs in her life, then in 1996 she graduated from SMTC and received her R.N. Degree. She loved nursing and worked at Sacopee Valley Health Center, Maine Medical Center and home Hospice care.
In the late 1990's, she divorced and moved to Machias to be close to family. She worked at Machias Hospital, and in 1999 she bought a home in Machias and "settled in". Once retired she lived between Machias, Readfield and Deer Island, NB. She spent her last months in Cornish surrounded by family.
Sheila is survived by her 6 children: April LaLonde of Cornish, Deborah LaLonde of Phillipston, Mass., Norman LaLonde and wife Wendy of Tewksbury, Mass., Michael LaLonde and wife Jean of Limerick, Craig Locke and wife Jackie of Augusta and Robin Locke of Cornish. 6 grandchildren: Mitchell LaLonde, Joseph LaLonde, Samantha LaLonde, Zachery LaLonde, Joshua LaLonde and Heather Locke Fraun. Also 2 great grandchildren, Dennis and Carter LaLonde.
