Obituary

Lucy (Cangello) DeFlavio, a life-long resident of Worcester, MA died peacefully on June 10th at the age of 98. She was the beloved wife of William V. DeFlavio for 66 years, who died in 2013. Born to Frank and Dolores (Pedone) Cangello, both of whom passed early in life, she and her sisters were raised by beloved Aunt Angelina Terlizzi. Lucy is pre-deceased by her sisters Clementine Petrone and Antoinette Grosse.
Lucy is survived by her loving and devoted sons David and his wife Mary, of Westport, CT, William of Newburyport, MA, Robert and his partner Margarete Dupere of Watertown, MA, Paul and his wife Sheri of Warren, VT. Proud grandmother of Karine, Ryan, Michelle, Jeffrey, Will, Lucy, Ben and Nate. Great grandmother to Hayden, Addyson, Kellen and Vincent.
Lucy was an active member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church for many years, volunteering and supporting countless church and charitable events. Time spent with her children and family was most important to Lucy as she always looked forward to that next visit or meals together, cherishing every moment. For the past 2½ years Lucy has resided at Knollwood Nursing Center, where she received wonderful care from a dedicated group of nurses and social workers during difficult times.
Friends and relatives are invited to a Funeral Mass at St. Anne’s Catholic Church, 130 Boston Turnpike, (Rte. 9) Shrewsbury, MA on Wednesday, June 15 at 11AM followed by internment at St. John’s Cemetery, Worcester, MA. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to non-profit Knollwood Nursing Center at www.knollwoodnursingcenter.com or to the AstraZeneca Hope Lodge Center at https://donate3.cancer.org, a free home away from home for cancer patients and caregivers .
