Obituary

Joachin Thermelan Thermo was born in Saint Michel de L' Atalaye, a town north of Haiti. The youngest of 12, he was born on August 26, 1926 to Thermojuste Louis Thermo and Destine Francois.

On April 20, 1950 he married Idenia Pierre, the love of his life. This union gave birth to 11 children. He was a handyman that enjoyed working hard to provide for his family, which he loved dearly. He instilled high moral values in his children, taught them how to live together, as well as appreciating the value of discipline. His teachings allowed them to remain close until now.

In 1989 him and his wife moved to the United States. Although working a humble job, he was very generous with all. At one point, up to 18 of his nephews and nieces were under his care when their father passed away. His generosity was felt both financially and emotionally. He was always sought out for advice, allowing him to pass on the wisdom acquired over the years. Always available for others, yet he still made time to enjoy life. You could always find him in his car listening to music or playing dominoes with family and friends. Despite losing his wife in 2011, he never lost strength, he even continued working until 84 years of age.

He had great appreciation for spiritual matters, humbly accepting to study the bible with his son Max until his deteriorating health. On June 9, 2022, he drew his last breath at a hospice in Boston. He was 95 years old, 7 months. He is survived by his children: Paula Thermo, Brunel Thermot, Michèle Thermo and Max Thermo. His daughters-in-law: Arnould B. Thermot, Marjorie D. Thermo. His son-in-law: Fresnel Justafort. He also has numerous grandchildren: Jean Ralph Thermo, William Teleau and wife, Stephanie Robergeau and husband, Giovanni Thermot, Goshanni Thermot and wife, Adjahni Thermot, Max Thermo Jr, Mahajah Thermo, Malisha Thermo. Great-grandchildren: Manoah, Yohan, Amori, Amari... He also has many nephews and nieces whom he loved dearly: Marguerite, Carlo, Jean-Claude, Francois…etc.

We put faith in the promise that soon “the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out” (John 5:28,29).
