Obituary

WEBSTER – Esther C. (Malboeuf) Cournoyer, 86, of 3 Day Street, died Monday, May 8, in Webster Manor after an illness. Her husband of 45 years, Roland J. Cournoyer, died in 1986.

She leaves 3 daughters, Ellen L. Gevry of Dudley, Kathleen M. Chlapowski of Waltham, and Mary L. Bergstrom and her husband William of Webster; a brother, Ralph Malboeuf of Dudley; 8 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister and 3 brothers.

She was born in Webster, the daughter of Alfred and Ellen (O’Neill) Malboeuf, and was a lifelong resident. She attended Bartlett High School.

Mrs. Cournoyer was a supervisor at American Greeting Card Company and then a sales clerk at Mathieu’s Shoe Store, retiring in 1981.

She was a member of St. Louis Church and the St. Louis League of Catholic Women. She was once a Girl Scout leader. She was a devoted fan of the Boston Red Sox and Boston Celtics. Above all, she loved her family.

The funeral will be held Thursday, May 11, from Scanlon Funeral Service, 38 East Main St., with a Mass at 10:00 AM in St. Louis Church, 14 Lake St. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Calling hours are from 4:00 to 7:00 PM Wednesday, May 10, in the funeral home. Donations in her name may be made to St. Louis School Endowment Fund, 15 Lake St., Webster, MA 01570.
