Obituary

Donahue, Daniel P., 20, son of Curtis A. Donahue of Glocester and Ann Marie (Davis) Donahue of Smithfield, and step son of Deborah L. (Stoeckel) Donahue, an Environmental Science major at the University of Rhode Island, died March 13, 2006.

Dan had lived in Glocester his whole life and was a 2003 graduate of Ponagansett High School where he was in the Honors Program, and a member of the nationally ranked Wind Ensemble. He had played soccer and baseball for the Town of Glocester and had also played soccer in high school. He had worked for the maintenance Department at the University of RI and for the past four summers he had worked for DEM at George Washington and Fisherman Memorial Campgrounds.

He had many talents. He was a good all around athlete. He had a passion for music and played the guitar, trumpet and drums along with other instruments. He loved nature, had an adventurous spirit and was an avid outdoorsman.

He is also survived by his brothers, Ryan J., Neil J. and Tyler C. Donahue of Glocester, his grandparents Robert F. and Catherine “Claire” (Bourassa) Donahue of Smithfield, the late Margaret E. (Holland) Davis, Peter J. and E. Berenice (Hacket) Davis of Narraganset, and step grandmother Dolores (DeAngelis) Stoeckel of Glocester. He also leaves behind many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

A private Mass of Christian burial was held and burial was in Acote’s Hill Cemetery, Chepachet. If desired, donations may be to Daniel P. Donahue Scholarship Fund, c/o David Shaw, P.O. Box 17171, Smithfield, RI 02917.
