Obituary

John T. O’Callaghan, 61, of Cambridge, passed away on May 16, 2022, at CHA Cambridge Hospital.

Born and raised in Cambridge, he was the son of the late Thomas and Patricia (Green) O’ Callaghan.

John served his country proudly from 1978-1981 in the United States Army.
He worked as a laborer during the “Big Dig” with the Laborers International Union of Boston.

A fun-loving soul with a great sense of humor who was very generous and had a heart of gold. He enjoyed Boston Sports and spending time with his children, grandchildren, and close friends.

John is survived by his three daughters, Kristina Provitola and her husband Dan of West Bridgewater, Michele O’Callaghan and her companion Justin Akins of Quincy, and Erika O’Callaghan and her companion Noah Devine, of Brockton; four grandchildren, Ellsie, Keira, Gabriella, and Aiden. He was the grandfather of the late Abel and brother of the late Kimberly O’Callaghan and Valerie Green O’Callaghan.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his interment with military honors on Thursday, June 23, 2022, at 11:30 am in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Connery Avenue, Bourne. Visiting hours will be respectfully omitted. Those who will be attending are asked to arrive at the cemetery in the funeral procession assembly area by 11:15 am.
