Obituary

Thomas E. Buckley 72, a Norfolk resident for over 43 years died Sunday May 7, 2006 at Caritas Norwood Hospital, shortly after his arrival there. He was the husband of Dorothea M. (Comendul) Buckley.
He was educated in Boston schools, and was a graduate of the former Huntington Preparatory School. Mr. Buckley was a retired self employed textile operator, and later in life worked in the jewelry industry as a coloring specialist.
He served in the US Navy during the Korean conflict. He attained the rank of MML/3rd class and was stationed aboard the USS Kearsarge. He was honorably discharged in June 1955.
Mr. Buckley devoted himself to his family and friends. He enjoyed boating and in his younger years played the drums in several area bands. He was a member of the Norfolk Senior Citizens and was a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church in Franklin.
Surviving in addition to his wife of 43 years is a son: Marc H. Simmler and his wife Sandra (Roach) Simmler of Uxbridge, a daughter Dianne D. Maitland of Wrentham, a grandson Marc H. Simmler Jr. a granddaughter Crystal Buckley and her husband Joseph Hamm Jr. and one great-grandson Joseph Hamm III.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral Thursday May 11, 2006 at 9:30AM from the Charles F. Oteri and Son Franklin Funeral Home 33 Cottage St. with a funeral service at St. John’s Episcopal Church 237 Pleasant St. Franklin at 10AM. Rev. John Potter, rector, of St. John’s Episcopal Church will officiate.
Burial with military honors will take place at the family lot in Union Street Cemetery Franklin on Wednesday May 17, 2006 at 4:00PM.
Calling hours at the funeral home are Wednesday May 10, 2006 from 5-8PM.
In lieu of flowers donations in his memory sent to the American Heart Association 20 Speen St. Framingham, MA 01701 would be appreciated.
