Obituary

Alfred George Keenan, Jr. was born in Boston on August 8, 1933 the only son of the late Alfred and Ethel (Robertson) Keenan, passed away on May 27 surrounded by his loving family after a brief illness of COVID-19.

Alfred “Al” grew up in Dorchester and was a proud veteran who served in the United States Air Force. He married his loving wife Roseann (Licciardi) Keenan in 1959 and they were married for 60 years until her death in 2020. In 1968 they moved to Whitman where they raised their family. He worked as an electrical engineer at Goodall Shapiro in Boston for many years until his retirement.

Al will be most remembered as a devoted and dedicated family man who will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his daughter Kathleen Liolios and her husband Charles of Plymouth, his daughter Denise Keenan and her beloved Dennis of Rockland, his son Gerald Keenan and his wife Debra of Bridgewater; his grandchildren Kyle Liolios of Somerville, Molly Liolios of Plymouth, and Michael Munroe. He is also survived by his three sisters, Edith Wilson and her husband Eric of Abington, Frances DeStoop and her husband Hank of Holbrook, and Phyllis Webber and her late husband Ralph of Brockton. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his loving daughter Jo-Ann Keenan.

Family and friends are invited to attend his visiting hours on Wednesday June 1 from 5:00-7:00 PM in the Blanchard Funeral Chapel, Plymouth Street (Rte. 58 @ the rotary) Whitman and his funeral service on Thursday June 2 at 10:00 AM in the Chapel. Burial will follow at 12:45 PM in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne. By request of the family masks are required.
