Obituary

SALEM - Rev. George P. Williams, 88, husband of Diane M. (Vega) Williams, of Beverly, died Sunday morning, May 7, 2006 in the Beverly Hospital following a short illness.

Born in Boston, he was the son of the late Charles H. And Catherine (Bossie) Williams.

During the 1930's and early 1940's he worked for the Civilian Conservation Corps. In the 1960's, he was a maintenance supervisor for Codman & Codman in Boston.

Starting in Olympia, Washington in the 1950's, Rev. Williams answered his calling and became an evangelist and traveled through many parts of the country teaching the word of the Lord. He spoke at churches, in homes and larger forums, helped establish churches, took part in church ministries and returned to Massachusetts, where he ministered in a church in Oxford, and has been part of the team ministry of the Full Gospel Chapel in Salem, since 1997.

Besides his wife, he is survived by 2 sons, George P. Williams, Jr of Chelmsford, Roger A. and his wife Valerie Williams of Westboro, 3 daughters, Elaine Capaviella of Somerville, Priscilla Flaherty of Ashland, Barbara J. Hubacheck of Waltham, a step-son Thomas and his wife Heather Carr of Derry, NH, a step-daughter, Wendy Carr of Hooksett, NH, 12 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his first wife, Mae G. Williams, and was the brother of the late Mildred Saunders.

His funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 11, 2006 at 10 am in the Full-Spychalski Funeral Home, 84 Washington Square East, by Salem Common, Salem. Visiting hours are Wednesday, 2 to 4 & 6 to 8 pm. Burial is in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody. Relatives and friends respectfully invited to attend.
