Holden: Norman T. Soderberg, 95, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, May 25, 2022 in Holden Nursing and Rehab Center after a brief illness and a long life. He is predeceased by his wife of 52 years, Joyce (Christenson) Soderberg in 2012, his daughter Amy Soderberg in 2018 and granddaughter Jenna Soderberg in 2021. He leaves two children- Jon Soderberg of AZ, and Peter Soderberg of Easthampton, MA; four grandchildren - Samuel Soderberg of Hamden, MA, Christopher Soderberg of Springfield, MA; and Kirsten Blair and her husband Brice of North Carolina and Katarina Mayo and her husband Dalton of Virginia; two great grandchildren CB Blair and Lucas Blair; and sister-in-law June Caldbeck-Crone and her husband Charles Crone of Sterling along with a number of nieces and nephews.
Norman was born November 4th, 1926 in Worcester, son of the late Theodore and Esther (Norman) Soderberg. He graduated from Commerce High School and proudly served his country in the US Army for 3 years during World War II and in the Mass State National Guard. He worked at the former Paul Revere Life Insurance Company for over 45 years, retiring as the Director of Printing Facilities. He also owned and operated the Viking Motel for 10 years. He was active in youth sports and Boy Scouts, volunteered at Sturbridge Village, enjoyed wood carving, painting, and gardening, was an avid sports fan and enjoyed collecting memorabilia.
A calling hour will be held on Thursday, June 2, 2022 from 10-11:00 a.m. in Nordgren Memorial Chapel 300 Lincoln St. Worcester, MA 01605. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery in Boylston, MA. In lieu of flowers, donations in Norman's memory may be made to the Worcester Animal Rescue League. Nordgren Memorial Chapel 300 Lincoln St. Worcester is assisting the family with arrangements.
