Julie Tache’ passed away peacefully at home on May 16, 2022. Julie was born on a spring afternoon in 1938 to John and Mildred Cline of Dayton, Ohio. She studied Ballet at Julienne Academy before graduating to study Dramatic Arts at the University of Dayton where she thrived. It was there she met the love of her life, Joe, when the two were cast in the University’s production of Guys and Dolls. On graduation day in 1960 Julie married Joe and the two settled in Kettering, Ohio, where they welcomed their first 4 children. After six years in Dayton, the family relocated to Joe’s hometown of SalemMassachusetts where their last child joined the family.
In 1969, her beloved Uncle Chat challenged her to “compete with the men” and get a real estate license. So, she did. She was a natural at it and her life, along with those she touched through her career changed forever. Starting out in a small office on Marblehead Neck, she made it into the elite, million-dollar sales club. She then moved to Olde Town joining R.W. Carlson Associates. Successful there, she opened their Salem office in the storefront of the Hawthorne Hotel and went on to start her own agency in 1983. Julie Tache Associates was an immediate success andevolved over the years. Itcontinues her legacy today as Tache Real Estate. Julie worked with a long list of talented real estate professionals and developers on the North Shore. She helped transform many blighted areas of Salem to thrive as they do today. Some of her accomplishments include Pickering Wharf, The Hawthorne Hotel, The Lyceum, the downtown Peabody Block Complex and Salem Laundry Building, just to name a few. Her energy and love of antiques helped revive the Derby Street area and historic neighborhoods all over Salem. While raising a family and running a successful company, Julie still found time for volunteer work. She served on the Salem Partnership, The Industrial Review Finance Committee and even co-wrote a cookbook for the St Joseph’s Parish. She sponsored school athletic programs,Little League and received awards from the Salvation Army.
In her private life, sheenjoyed her family and many friends. Boating trips with Joe and the children, barbecues in the backyard and yearly holiday parties where her glamour and ideas were so evident. Julie opened her home to those that were troubled and helped them find their way. She loved her children, encouraged them to be their best and attended their many sports games whether on arainy field, a distant court or in a cold rink. In 2015, Julie was inducted into theSalem High School Hall of Fame for her emeritus service to the school’s sportsprograms. Throughout her busy, success life, Julie was a Mother first, with an ear always open to hear her children’s ideas and hopes. As those who knew her would attest, Julie was everything good to this world. She was an artist, wife, mother, grandmother, aunt and friend.She will be greatly missed.
Julie is predeceased by her husband, Joseph; brother-in-law Gerald Tache’; sister-in-law Janis Tache’ and son-in-law Mark McLaughlin. She is survived by her children;Joseph, John, Jerry and his wife Dee, Julianna, Jennifer Ginleyand her husband Michael,grandson Jack Ginley, nephew Garett Tache’ and his wife Dawn and grand-niece Anna Tache’.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 31, 2022 at Levesque Funeral home, 163 Lafayette Street, Salem, MA from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Her Funeral Mass will take place Wednesday morning, June 1st at 11:00 a.m. at the Immaculate Conception Church, 15 Hawthorne Boulevard, Salem, MA.In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the Alzheimer’s Foundation.
