TEWKSBURY: Alfred A. Rene, age 85, a resident of Tewksbury for 44 years, died Saturday, May 6, 2006 at the Lowell General Hospital.
He was the husband of Evelyn B. (O’Leary) Rene, with whom he would have celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary on June 8th.
Born in Fall River on February 24, 1921, he was the son of the late Joseph A. and Melina (Chabot) Rene.
Mr. Rene was raised in Boston.
He attended Boston schools and graduated from Mechanic Arts High School in 1939.
Following graduation, he attended a University Extension Course at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge.
Mr. Rene served during World War II in the U.S. Army and was awarded the World War II Victory Medal.
Prior to his retirement in 1985, he was employed as a master machinist by the Crown Cork & Seal Company of Lawrence, where he worked for 15 years.
He was a communicant and former member of the Adult Choir of St. Robert Bellarmine Church in West Andover.
Mr. Rene was a 4th Degree member and past financial secretary of the Fr. Francis Coppens Council, Knights of Columbus # 4336 of Tewksbury.
He enjoyed traveling with his wife, attending family gatherings and woodworking.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son; Paul J. Rene and his wife Ruth (Allwood) of Plaistow, NH; one daughter; Joan M. Ricci and her husband Nick of Methuen; two grandchildren; Nicholas D. Ricci, Jr. of Everett and Erin M. Wetzelberger and her husband Todd of Baltimore, MD.
Mr. Rene was the father of the late Anne L. Dennis and brother of the late Irene Kenney and Ralph Rene.
