EAST MILLINOCKET- Gary V. Downs, age 90, U.S. Army Veteran, passed away on May 20, 2022, at VA Togus.
He was born in Corinna on Aug. 12, 1931, a son of the late Lloyd and Viola (Burleigh) Downs.
He worked at Rigby Yard as a railroad car man for 20 years. He also owned a driver education business for 20 years and was employed at Unum for 10 years.
In his younger years, Gary was an accomplished light weight boxer.
Gary is predeceased by siblings- Harold Downs, Henry Downs, Lloyd (Buck) Downs and Judy (Downs) Barlow.
He is survived by his children- Carol Vogel of South Portland, William Downs of Gorham, Robert Downs of South Portland, Richard Downs of Portland, Nathan Downs of Skowhegan, Jared Downs of Montpelier, VT, and Meghan Downs of Wiscasset; siblings- Emily Kelly of Millinocket, Hester Caswell of Montville, Charity Tucker of Portland, and Jack Downs of Farmington and seven grandchildren. Services will be private amongst his family.
