Obituary

Kara Ann Donaghue, 46, of Hudson, New Hampshire, passed away Wednesday, May 18, 2022.

The daughter of the late James R. Donaghue and the late Joan K. (Shields) Sheehan Donaghue, born July 3, 1975, in Lowell, graduating from Greater Lowell Vocational High School, then going on to attend UMass Lowell and Middlesex College, receiving her associates in Veterinary Technology.

She was an unapologetically unique person who was true to herself in every sense. Animals were her life, from an early age she developed a deeper understanding of them and always had the ability to build strong connections with them. She’s had cats throughout her whole life and shared a special bond with each one, especially the late Buddy, who had just recently passed. One of the hobbies she thoroughly enjoyed as a young girl was horseback riding, she adored horses and although her love for all animals was unconditional, horses were her favorite. She also took great interest in marine biology and had a fiery love for sharks, even dreaming of swimming with them one day. Her work life uncoincidentally consisted of being a Veterinary Technician, most recently in Wilmington, for about 20 years as well as a farm hand more recently, tending to horses, cows, etc. She would come home everyday with new stories and pictures of the animals she worked with, it was truly her passion.

She was an avid sports fan, as well as a great talent in soccer during her younger years. She loved her Boston sports, especially the Patriots, who if you’ve ever shared the room with her during a game, you knew she’d be the most vocal, spirited fan there. On a beautiful day she would enjoy fishing. Another passion of hers was film, old and new, she was a true movie buff which she enjoyed with her fiancé Sean. There weren’t many scenarios where you could spend more than 5 minutes with her without hearing an obscure movie reference from the 80s or hearing her break out in a song you haven’t heard in years. She had her own brand of humor and was just such a delightful, loving person to be around. She was blessed to find her counterpart in life, her other half, Sean, who was as equally goofy and light-spirited as she was. On the surface they had spent over 10 years together and shared countless memories and laughs, but on a deeper level she was truly grateful to had found her person, someone who genuinely understood her. She was a gifted individual, and that could easily refer to her intelligence, her delicious cooking, or her talent of working with animals but her greatest ability, where she undoubtedly shined the most, was being a mother. Her son was her world and she never once failed to make him feel that way.

She is survived by her fiancé, Sean Driscoll of Hudson, NH; her son, Anthony Hunt of Lowell; her siblings, Robert Donaghue and his wife, Barbara, of Methuen, Linda Donaghue of Vermont, Ann Trudel and her husband, James, of Pelham, NH, Patti Sheehan Coville of West Yarmouth, Joan Boucher of Lowell, and Richard Sheehan and his wife, Barbara, of Lowell; she also had many nieces and nephews and their families, as well as her close friend, Jennie Searles-Foote of Tewksbury.

She was also a sister of the late Michael P. Sheehan.

On Wednesday, May 25, 2022 all are welcome to attend her calling hours from 10a.m.-12 noon at the McDonough Funeral Home, 14 Highland Street, Lowell 978-458-6816.
