Obituary

It is with great sadness that I announce the passing of Alvin Clark at Accents ICP Hospice Center on May 18,2022. Alvin Clark was born on November 1, 1953, in Boston Massachusetts. As a child Alvin resided at Fernald Institute and later came to join Work Inc. On January 1, 1988, Alvin joined the Work Inc. Glen Echo residential house. Alvin lived an incredibly happy life in his home and received great care until his death.

Alvin was a very sociable man. Alvin was nonverbal; however, anyone could understand him through his expressions and gestures. Alvin was an extremely sweet and compassionate man. The staff at the residence fondly referred to Alvin as“AC” and Alvito.

Alvin loved country music and R& B music. Music made him so happy and relaxed in his final days. Alvin enjoyed going into the community with his housemates and staff.
Alvin loved community trips, he loved feeling the fresh air and sun on his face. He loved parks and beaches. Alvin enjoyed shopping at the mall.

Alvin was able to do some traveling throughout his life. Alvin visited Cape Cod, Rhode Island, Maine Connecticut, and Vermont. Alvin’s favorite vacation was going to Disney world in Florida with Work Inc. Alvin went on all the rides at Disney, but his favorite was the Tower of Terror!

Alvin had a true love for coffee, but his true favorite drink was his occasional Guinness. Alvin in the past has been known to frequent Shooters Pub in Avon.

Alvin attended the day program at Habitation Assistance Corporation in Braintree Massachusetts where he had many friends.

Alvin had the most contagious smile that would touch many people throughout his life including those of his housemates and Staff at the residential home. Alvin is survived by his housemates/family; Charles, Lester, Dennis, Joey, and a staff that absolutely loved him. I am extremely proud and honored to have such compassionate and dedicated staff. I would like to take one minute to personally thank all the staff and Alvin’s team, you have all done a fabulous job caring for him. Staff went to sit with Alvin on their own time to ensure someone was there for him.

A Celebration of Alvin’s Life will be held at Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street, Brockton on Thursday, May 26, from 11 to 12 followed by a service. Burial in Melrose Cemetery.
