Hazel A. Buchka
Hazel A. Buchka of Webster, MA passed away as a result of injuries sustained when she was struck by a motor vehicle. She was a loving and compassionate woman who enjoyed her family of twelve siblings and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, and friends.
Hazel lived a diverse and full life. She was a Bartlett High School Class of 1951 graduate and a member of the National Honor Society. She was a graduate of the Commonwealth Nursing Program and served professionally as a Licensed Practical Nurse at Hubbard Regional Hospital and Notre Dame Nursing Home. In addition, she worked as a private nurse for several years.
Hazel was a devout Catholic, entering the convent and serving as a Nun for several years. Her faith was a guiding principle throughout her life. She was an adventurous woman who loved travel, sports, and opera. Her most beloved home companions were her many cats. Hazel was a very engaged individual, long on recollection and always able to carry on a conversation on a variety of subjects.
Hazel is survived by her sister Dorothy (Dolly) Sosnowski of Dudley, MA and sister-in-law Mary (Pappas) Baxter of Charlton, MA. Hazel was born on October 2, 1931 to her parents Stathis and Stella (Matera) Buchka, immigrants of Albania. She was pre-deceased by brothers Anest “Clark” Buchka, Tom Baxter, Michael Buchka, Vasil (Bill) Buchka, Leon (Sonny) Buchka and sisters Olga Buchka, Martha Kenneway, Julia DiBonaventura, Shirley Jolicoeur and Alice Barry.
A funeral mass will be held at 10am on Tuesday June 28, 2022 at Saint Louis Church, 15 Lake Street, Webster, Ma. Burial will follow at Mount Zion Cemetery in Webster MA.
