Raymond D. Silva, 61 of Lowell, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, May 20, 2022 at his home. He was the longtime companion of Brenda Fryns with whom he shared the last 40 years.
He was born on November 3, 1960 in Faial, Azores, Portugal and was a son of the late Raimundo D. and the late Alexandrina (Branco) Silva. He relocated to the United States as a baby and was raised and educated in Lowell.
He was a devoted father and grandfather and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He enjoyed going for rides with friends and family.
He is survived by his five children, Christy Tuff of Hudson, NH, Keith Silva and his wife, Arielle of Chelmsford, Ryan Silva and his companion, Maranda Desilets of Lowell, Rachel Perez and her husband, Luis of Lowell, and Eric Silva and his wife, Rachel of Pelham, NH.
He is also survived by 17 grandchildren; his siblings, Mary Alice Ste. Marie and her husband, Richard of Lowell, Mary C. Hassett of Cape Cod, and Manuel Silva of Rhode Island; his sister in law, Patricia Silva of Lowell; and several nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
Raymond was predeceased by his son, the late Raymond D. Silva; his brother, the late Joseph Silva; his brother in law, the late Michael Hassett.
On Thursday, May 26, 2022 all are welcome to attend his calling hours from 4-8 p.m. at McDonough Funeral Home, 14 Highland Street, Lowell, 978-458-6816.
His funeral will begin on Friday morning at 9 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by his funeral mass at 10 a.m. at St. Anthony Church, 893 Central Street, Lowell. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
