Obituary

Phillip A. Boswell, 84, of Indian Valley Drive, Johnston, died Thursday, May 19, 2022 at Miriam Hospital in Providence. He was the husband of Janet E. (Pelletier) Boswell. They had been married for 57 years at the time of her death in 2018.

Born in St. Paul, Minnesota, he was a son of the late Levi and Charlotte (Vinck) Boswell. He spent his childhood in Alva, Oklahoma until enlisting in the Navy in 1956. He was stationed on the USS Randolph then onto the All weather Attack Squadron Thirty-three in Quonset Point, RI. This is where he met his wife, and soulmate, Janet. He went on to become an electrical engineer and retired as Director of Engineering from Teknor Apex. He and his wife spent the last 57 years in Johnston enjoying each other, family, and friends.

A devout Catholic, Phillip was active in the Church, often attending daily Mass as well as continuing Bible studies. He also volunteered his time to help seniors prepare their taxes, including this past April. He enjoyed wood working as a hobby and was especially proud of his birdhouses.

He is survived by his sons, John S. Boswell of Ellicott City, Maryland, and Eric J. Boswell and his wife, Valerie of Johnston, as well as his six grandchildren, Brandon, Samuel, Dylan, Preston, Olivia and Kyle.

His funeral will be held Wednesday May 25, 2022 at 9am from the Anderson-Winfield Funeral Home, Rt 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville. Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in St. Joseph Church, Danielson Pike, Scituate. Visitation Tuesday May 24, 2022 from 4-7pm. In lieu of flowers donations in his memory may be made to St. Joseph’s Indian School, PO Box 326, Chamberlain, South Dakota 57326.
