James J. McDermott, 92, of Higgins Street, Smithfield, died Thursday, May 19, 2022 at HopeHealth and Palliative Care Inpatient Center in Providence. He was the husband of the late Barbara A. (McNeil) McDermott and the late Mary E. (Dorsey) DeRobbio McDermott.
Born in Providence, he was a son of the late James and Hilda (Moore) McDermott. He had most recently lived in Smithfield. Jim served in the US Marines Corps, 1st Marine Division, Korea.
He is survived by his children: Sharon, Cynthia, Michael, Patricia, Bob and the late James, his sons and daughters in law, his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday at 10am in St. Michael’s Church, 80 Farnum Pike, Smithfield. Burial with military honors will follow in Highland Memorial Park, Johnston.
