Obituary

RAINBOW CITY, AL – Josephine Vera “Josie” (Vielleux) DeJordy, 85, of Rainbow City, Alabama and a former longtime resident of Prospect Street in Chicopee, Massachusetts, was Called Safely Home on Sunday, October 31, 2021. She passed into Eternal Life at her daughter’s home surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family. She was born in Chicopee on Sunday, December 29, 1935, a beloved daughter of the late Albine and Mary Agnes (Cavelli) Vielleux. She was raised and educated in Chicopee and had lived in Chicopee her entire life until moving to her daughter’s home in Rainbow City. She was a loving homemaker to her late husband and five children and was known to many as “The Ultimate Homemaker”. She was a wonderful seamstress and was known for making beautiful clothing for her family, friends and private clients. She also enjoyed cooking and baking, gardening and tending to her family’s needs. Her greatest joy was being a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was a communicant of the former Saint Mary of the Assumption Church in the Willimansett section of Chicopee and currently was a communicant of Sainte Rose de Lima Church in the Aldenville section of Chicopee. She was active with the Fairview Council 4044 Knights of Columbus in Chicopee where she actively volunteered her time at their weekly bingo games. She was predeceased by her beloved husband and best friend, Henry H. “Hank” DeJordy who was Called Home on March 5, 2019. They were married on June 13, 1953 at Saint Mary of the Assumption Church in Chicopee and were blessed with over 65 years of happiness together. She leaves her five loving children, Denis R. DeJordy of New York, David H. DeJordy of Keene, NH, Daniel H. DeJordy and his wife, Linda, of Westminster, Diane L. Roundy and her husband, David Roundy, Jr., of Rainbow City, AL and Daryl D. DeJordy of Monson; her 14 cherished grandchildren; her many cherished great grandchildren; her dear brother, Walter Valego and his wife, Chickie, of Agawam; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, extended family members and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her loving daughter in law, Barbara DeJordy; her dear brother, Bobby Vielleux; and her two dear sisters and brother in law, Marion Plasse and Shirley Maciolek and her husband, George. Her Relatives and Friends are invited to attend a Graveside Committal Service on Monday, June 20, 2022 at 9:30 a.m. at Sainte Rose Cemetery, 49 Olsen Street, Chicopee, MA 01020 in Section M. Her funeral arrangements are entrusted to the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806), 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020.
